The Superior 54 Sport Wagon chassis is equipped with a modern, high-performance, C5 Corvette suspension system that not even the renowned auto-innovator Harley Earl could have imagined. Designed and built in partnership with Art Morrison Enterprises, Inc., the chassis brings today's sports car technology to this classic.

An Art Morrison Enterprises perimeter frame built to our specifications serves as the sturdy and capable foundation for this sports car and is available with a variety of suspension options.  For the ultimate in high-performance, we use original equipment 1997 – 2004 Corvette suspension components as the basis for the Superior 54 chassis. We add Art Morrison’s front cross member, steering arm, sway bar, and power rack and pinion steering to the stock Corvette control arms, spindles, and brakes, and use performance coil over shocks to replace the stock front leaf spring. The independent rear-end and transaxle are bolted to the frame using a narrowed stock cradle, with the half-shafts and leaf spring narrowed accordingly. All of the stock GM geometry is maintained and service parts are readily available.

The C5 Corvette suspension is standard on our Complete Rolling Package, but we can install Kugel Komponents IFS and IRS, and/or a traditional Ford 9" on either coil-overs or leaf springs.  Air bags are an option on all suspension systems.  Each chassis our shop builds is custom, and we will work with you to determine to best mix of components and options that will best suit your needs.

The frame itself was designed specifically for this body to provide a stable platform that both looks good and provides the highest level of performance.  The unique shape and size of this never-produced body prevented the use of any commercially available or OEM chassis, however a skilled fabricator could choose to build their own or purchase the bare frame we offer and install the suspension of their choice.

Complete Rolling Chassis - finished by the builder with ready to install the Superior 54 Sport Wagon Body.  This example includes a LS6 crate motor, automatic transaxle (provided with Deluxe Rolling Package), and custom 15" wheels and brakes. The C5 Corvette Independent Rear Suspension is modified for this chassis but maintains all the geometry and performance as Chevy desinged it.  This finished build also shows the exhaust, fuel tank, battery, and all lines installed. The Superior 54 Sport Wagon was designed to use the LS-series high-performance V8s available from General Motors, but other powerplants can be installed as well.  This crate LS6 produces 405hp and is available directly from GMPP. The frame, designed and built in partnership with Art Morrison Enterprises, has a strong center section that supports the body and permits a sunken floor to enhance driver comfort.  The C5 Corvette torque-tube also adds considerable strength to the entire assembly.  Removable crossmembers under the torque-tube provide easy access for service and further reinforces the frame. Corvette C5 IFS and brakes. Alden coil-over shocks replace the original leaf spring. The Chevy LS-V8 motor mounts are provided and installed. These custom motor mounts are insulated at the frame with urethane bushings. We have this design in hundreds of high-performance chassis over the years for everything from mild-small blocks up to blown big-blocks. Complete Rolling Chassis.
